On behalf of Father Gilberto and Archbishop Gustavo, we invite you to put your faith into action with a charitable contribution to the 2024 Archbishop’s Appeal for Ministries, which is just getting underway. This annual campaign invites St. Brigid parishioners and all of the faithful in our archdiocese to support more than 30 ministries that advance the mission of the Catholic Church in our area.
The Appeal funds ministries in 5 main areas:
- Supporting Parish Life & Faith Formation. This includes programs and outreach in parishes as well as to special communities such as the deaf and those on college campuses, in the criminal justice system, and in hospitals.
- Faith-Based Education. Among other initiatives, this includes funding for Hope for the Future, which provides scholarships to help families send their children to Catholic schools.
- Selfless Service to Those in Need. This involves a broad array of social service ministries that help the poor, the elderly, young women with a crisis pregnancy, individuals yearning for post-abortive healing, orphans, at-risk youth, refugees, and many others who need a helping hand.
- Accompanying Our Shepherds. This includes formation of seminarians and deacons, care for retired priests, and other efforts.
- Evangelization Through Media. This portion of the campaign supports Today’s Catholic newspaper and Catholic Television of San Antonio.
Clearly, when you support the Archbishop’s Appeal for Ministries, you make a difference! As this year’s theme states, you also are “Walking United in Christ” with your brothers and sisters across the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
The 2024 campaign kicks off simultaneously with the start of Lent – what a perfect opportunity it provides to answer the Lenten call to almsgiving! We invite you to respond to this call with a gift of love as you are able, be it a one-time gift or a monthly pledge that allows you to pay off your gift over 10 months.
Our parish’s dollar goal this year of $90,321, but participation from all families is our ultimate goal. Each of us is called to make a return to God based on His blessings to us and in turn be a blessing to others.
