Support Groups

Find Support

At St. Brigid, we offer several ministries that reach out to the physical and spiritual well-being of our parishioners. These ministries are open to registered members, as well as the wider community.

As Community, we reach out to those in need and try always to provide ministries to meet the needs of the entire community. Please contact the parish office for more information about these opportunities or any ministry you would like to see made available.

Disability Advocacy Ministry (Special Needs)

In their “1978 Pastoral Statement on Persons with Disabilities,” the United States Catholic Bishops state that “catechesis for individuals with disabilities should be integrated with the normal catechetical programs of the parish.” Therefore, children who have disabilities are encouraged to participate as much as possible in the regular classroom setting, the liturgical setting and social settings.

Presently, our Disability Advocacy Ministry is in need of members. If you are interested in participating, please contact Mary Ann Skilling, Coordinator of Social Services, at 210.696.0896, ext. 205.

Also, in alliance with our support group, a NAMI Family-to-Family Educational Program takes place during the months of January through March. This is a 12-week course, with trained instructors, designed to educate family members who care for, or participate in the life of, an adult diagnosed with a severe mental illness.
