Faith Circles

Faith Circles are small groups aimed at bringing people together to reflect on the Sunday Scripture and to nurture faith relationships with God and one another. Sharing sessions are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 7:00 pm, usually in the Kildare Room. Join us any time! (Faith Circles también se ofrece en español.)

If you would like to understand the Sunday Scripture better, please join us and reflect in faith sharing circles with others. Come and see! Check the weekly church bulletin and website for current dates and locations. For questions, please call or email Suzie at 210.394.9161, stbrigidfaithcircles@gmail.com.

Small Christian Communities

Ecclesial communities meet in various homes at different times and are a source of renewed self-understanding and hope for the entire Church. Rooted in scripture and small in size (6 to 12 persons), these small church communities provide opportunities to reflect deeply on the Christian message and the call to respond in service to the small community itself as well as to the larger faith community and the universal church. Many of the Small Christian Communities study the Sunday readings together and share thoughts, fellowship and prepare for the upcoming Mass. SCC members may include persons who are single, married, families, or intergenerational. The members gather as a large community on special dates throughout the year.

St. Brigid’s The Learning Well

The Learning Well is a place where anyone can come to learn for the first time about Church history or get a refresher on Bible events.

On Wednesday evenings and Thursday mornings, parishioners come together to learn about the Bible and their Catholic faith. For many years now, participants have studied The Great Adventure, a program developed in 1984 by Jeff Cavins, a Protestant minister who later returned to the Catholic Church in 1995. Participants have found this program, developed when Jeff realized that many Christians did not grasp “the big picture” of the Bible, to be very helpful in better understanding the Word of God. With basic background, participants are able to take their own journey through Scripture. Now, Mass readings can be put into the context of the bigger picture, allowing them to enter into a great adventure when hearing God through His Word more clearly. Participants have studied series books: The Bible Timeline, the Gospel of Matthew, Acts, the Gospel of Luke, Mary, The Early Church (EPIC), and the book of James. Other series, such as Symbolon and Wisdom, are authored by well-known writers and endorsed by The Great Adventure program and offer great insight into our Catholic faith.

Schedule: Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Fall and the Spring and Thursday mornings at 9:30 am in the Fall and the Spring.

For more information, please contact Debra Schneider, Adult Faith Coordinator, at 210.455.4029, or DebraSchneider@stbrigidcc.org.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study

This group meets on most Tuesday mornings from 9:15 am to 10:15 am. The Bible study prepares you for Mass with open (shared) discussion of upcoming Sunday readings. While the focus is usually on the Sunday Lectionary readings, the topic may vary according to the liturgical season.

This Bible study opportunity also allows you to visit and pray with others. If interested in being a part of this group, you may contact us at the parish office 210.696.0896.

Writing With Angels

Would you like to share your stories through a creative writing process? Whether we write to remember, to share our life in community, or because we are inspired to respond to life’s goodness, our work is a beautiful reflection of our life experience. We share faith, write, and provide supportive feedback. You are welcome to join us on Wednesday mornings, 10:00 am—12:30 pm, in McKenna Bldg., Room 201-202. Bring writing paper, and pen or pencil.
