Respect for Life

Life is Sacred

St. Brigid provides and participates in ministries that reflect our Catholic belief that life is sacred.

If you are interested in becoming involved in any of these ministries, please contact the Parish Office.

Get Involved

ANNUAL BABY SHOWER

Every year in May, St. Brigid extends an invitation to all of our parishioners to participate in our Annual Baby Shower. We ask everyone to bring in a new item of their choosing to Mass on the two weekends before and the weekend of Mother’s Day. Items received are then donated to the St. Brigid Conference of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Providence House, and Guadalupe Home to be given to expectant mothers who have chosen life for their babies.

BLOOD DRIVE

Generally, held twice a year, those parishioners who are able, are asked to give a unit of blood. These drives help individuals in our parish, as well as those in the greater community. Giving is made convenient by the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, who sends their medical technicians to St. Brigid Parish, so that parishioners may be able to donate after any of the weekend Masses on the designated weekend.

PRO-LIFE

The primary focus of this group is to protect the right to life of every human being, with particular focus on the plight of the unborn. Also of concern are the death penalty, euthanasia, and research. This is done through prayer, education, and promoting awareness in others.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will no longer be death.” Rev 21:4

Reflection:

Men continue to suffer from the abortion of their children. Many of them repent of having shed the blood of the person God entrusted to their care, love, and protection.

Others tried to protect their child, and were not allowed by the child’s mother or by the law to intervene to stop the abortion. Men in these circumstances need to know that they do dot weep alone and that healing is available.

Prayer:

Redeem, O Lord, the fathers whose hearts are torn by the abortion of their children.

Rosary Prayer Groups

The Rosary familiarizes the hearts and minds of the faithful with the Mysteries of Christ.

K of C Rosary

The St. Brigid Knights of Columbus Council 11596 hold a Rosary every quarter at 7:00 pm, either at the Monument of the Unborn or in the Day Chapel during inclement weather. They also sponsor a ‘Rosary for the Unborn’ at various times during the year. Please note that presently Rosaries are being through ZOOM.

Right to Life Rosary

The wider community comes together in a Right to Life Rosary at 8600 Wurzbach. The Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is recited every Saturday morning at 9:00 am. Come join us and pray for life, especially for the unborn!

Rosary Repair

Bring your broken rosary to the parish office in an envelope with your name and phone # on it. We’ll give you a call when it’s ready.

Please consider donating any partial or broken rosaries that cannot be mended so that other rosaries may be repaired. Thank you.

HOLY TRINITY ROSARY MINISTRY

Holy Trinity Rosary Ministry is devoted to Our Lady, and the entire parish community is invited to participate. All ages, men and women are welcome.  We speak one language in our ministry…and that is the language of love for Our Lady and Our Lord!  Meetings are quarterly (February, May, August and October) with workshops held on the first Monday of each month. This ministry makes and supplies beaded Rosaries for our parish Care Ministries, (hospitals, nursing homes, home bound, etc), retreats, and hand-knotted Rosaries for military troops. Training and supplies are provided.  Once you learn how to make rosaries, they can be made at your home at your own pace!

If you feel called to become part of this beautiful and faith-sharing ministry, please contact htrosaryministry@gmail.com or Ana Flores @ 210-307-6083 or anaelisa.flores@yahoo.com.

SOCIAL CONCERNS

Issues of concern include education, advocacy, and social action concerning injustices in the home, workplace, school, church, neighborhood, city, state, country, and world. School supplies and Christmas gifts are collected for the needy in our parish and larger community.
