If your child is between 7 and 17 years of age and is not baptized Catholic, your child completes RCIA I in regular Faith Formation and RCIA II in the second year on Sunday mornings with a special schedule of activities in which parents and godparents also participate. Baptism or Profession of Catholic Faith, Confirmation and Eucharist are celebrated at the Easter Vigil in the second year.
At St. Brigid, we strive to provide catechetical programs in keeping with the United States Catholic Bishops “1978 Pastoral Statement on Persons with Disabilities,” that promote catechesis for individuals with disabilities be integrated with the regular faith formation programs of the parish. So, therefore, children with disabilities are encouraged to participate as much as possible in the normal classroom, liturgical and social settings.
If your family or one that you know has a disability or special need, the Faith Formation Office has adaptive kits available for the home-based preparation for preparing special needs children for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Materials for special needs Confirmation can be made available. For more information, contact Juan Serros, Director of Faith Formation at 210.696.0896, ext. 206.
